About the course
Many times, in the product development process the designer takes on not only the design process, but also the engineering development and preparation of the product for production. When designing a product for production by plastic injection, knowing the capabilities and limitations of the technology will allow the designer to include other considerations besides the visibility of the product, thus affecting the ability to produce the product, strengthen it and lower the cost of production. In this course, the students designed a BT speaker based on existing components from a disassembled speaker. The process involved design alongside production planning, and the final product was computer files ready to be transferred to the mold manufacturer before mass production of the product.
